We defend companies after investigations are opened against the executives or other employees of a company. This also includes the organisation of the collaborative defence of several defendants by several lawyers. Risks under criminal law are identified and the company is positioned in relation to the criminal proceedings with the aim of minimising the direct and indirect adverse impact on the company. To this end we also contribute to the development and implementation of a concept for communicating with all stakeholders. We must consider the specific features of criminal law and criminal procedure and thereby make the communication as controllable as possible.

Dr Kai Hart-Hönig primarily advises members of management boards, supervisory boards and other directors and executive staff. Dr Kai Hart-Hönig also has a wide range of experience in defending members of the free professions (attorneys at law, auditors, tax consultants, physicians and pharmacists), including proceedings governed by professional rules and regulations.

Dr Kai Hart-Hönig advises clients on crisis management and the limitation of damage in the lead-up to the possible opening of criminal or regulatory investigations. This includes the identification of risks under criminal law, the development and implementation of the measures necessary to limit the damage, and also action to prepare for possible searches.

We carry out internal investigations to determine the facts before or after the opening of criminal or regulatory investigations against a company or its employees. Depending on the requirements, we put together a team of experienced lawyers, auditors, tax consultants, auditors and forensic specialists.

We have great experience in the area of Compliance. Focussing on the prevention of corruption and antitrust violations, our firm advises business undertakings from a variety of branches of business on designing and implementing Compliance programmes and building up a Compliance organisation. Furthermore, Dr Kai Hart-Hönig examines existing Compliance programmes and provides advice in cases of Compliance violations.

We advise our clients on how to structure transactions and other entrepreneurial activities in order to rule out or at least minimise to the greatest possible extent any risks under criminal law.
